About Dr. James Cockayne
Dr James Cockayne is the first NSW Anti-slavery Commissioner. In this role, he works independently to strengthen the state's response to modern slavery, forced labour and human trafficking. He has a particular focus on empowering survivors and strengthening government procurement and frontline responses.
James previously spent two decades overseas promoting human rights and responsible business practices—from counter-terrorism work in Africa and the Middle East to advising United Nations leaders in New York, Geneva and Tokyo.
